26 Years on

Magnum photographer Ian Berry has a long association with South Africa having worked for Drum magazine and the Daily Mail newspaper. He was the only photographer at the Sharpville massacre in 1960 and as we celebrate 25 years of democracy he shares his memories of photographing South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994.
